I am originally from New York and moved to Florida to continue my education. I am married with two adult children who have special needs, which I feel has made me a more compassionate and understanding therapist.
I attained a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and minor in Social Work, from Florida International University in 1996. I then went on to work on my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University where I graduated in 1998. Upon graduation I worked in a Community Mental Health Center providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families. During this time I worked towards attaining my License in Mental Health Counseling. I became licensed in the State of Florida in December 2001 and continued to provide therapy to children, adolescents, and their families, in the home setting. In August 2003 I began, and continue to, work for the Broward County School Board as an ESE Counselor providing counseling to kids with special needs.
By offering years of experience working with clients in a variety of therapeutic settings (Community Mental Health Centers, Domestic Violence Programs, Private Practice, Support Services, School Based Mental Health, etc.) my practice specialties include anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and working with children and families.
I strive to provide an open, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment in which my clients feel comfortable exploring, growing, and making changes. I assist clients in obtaining a greater understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they may influence their functioning. Typically, my clients are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and interpersonal difficulties, just to name a few. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths, areas for growth, and help them move along the path to change.
